Thank You For The Music
Friday 15th April saw the biggest social event of the year so far. ABBA Diva were the guests for this ladies night organised by Social Convenor: Muriel O'Hara.
This proved to be an exceptionally entertaining and successful evening with closing time coming too soon for some guests. When everyone finally did leave; many proclaimed it to be the best social event that the club has seen.
MBE Awarded to Palacerigg Member
Willie McLachlan, Past Captain, committee member and well known supporter of the Club has been awarded an MBE in this year's honours list.
Willie was nominated by his employer, BAE Aerospace as a result of his fundraising works for charity; raising in excess of £1million for a variety of causes.
I'm sure everyone at the Club will want to congratulate Willie on what is a magnificent achievement.
Willie and his wife Jaqui will be attending Buckingham Palace later in the year for the award ceremony; we look forward to the photos of him in top hat and tails.
XOS Scottish Golf Awards
Colin Montgomorie, Paul Lawrie and Frank Anderson were some of the names who collected awards at the XOS Scottish Golf Awards.
Monty and Lawrie won lifetime achievement awards and Frank was the first ever winner of the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Frank, Palacerigg's Junior Conveynor, has increased the juniors ranks from seven to over seventy in his three years doing the job. This tenfold increase can be attributed to his dedication and commitment in improving the organisation and facilities available to Palacerigg's younger golfers.
Frank received his award, along with a cheque for £400 for the club, in front of nearly 500 people at the presentation dinner held the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow.
Well done Frank!!

Burns Supper
The Palacerigg Golf Club Burns Supper took place on Saturday 12th February.
Chairman and past member Alan Mclean hosted an enjoyable evening in which Finlay Petersen toasted the immortal memory. Rod Johnston and Muriel O' Hara continued the festivities with a toast to the lassies and the reply from the lassies. The toasts were interspersed with the fine voice of Winnie MacMillan, who entertained all with a selection of traditional songs.
